The Pin parvati pass is a Mountain pass in Himachal Pradesh at a height of 5319m which acts as an alternative route to Spiti valley. It is one of the most challenging and thrilling trek in India.

 

How to reach Pin Parvati trek

 

As this Pin Parvati trek is one of the most challenging trek in India, therefore it is quite popular among trekkers.There are a numerous ways to reach this pass:

Reaching by road:

 

There are a number of ways to reach the base of Pin parvati trek :

 

  1. You can take a bus from Delhi directly to Manali. It takes almost 14 hours for journey completion.
  2. The second and best option is to take a bus from Chandigarh to Manali. This journey would be more comfortable as it would take almost 10 hours for the journey completion.

 

Reaching by air

You can take a flight to Bhuntar airport which is the nearest one to Manali. From there, Manali is only a few hours away and you can help yourselves with any means of transport for reaching Manali.

 

Reaching by railways

The nearest railway station to Manali is in Pathankot which is about 300 kms away from it. From there, you can travel in a bus to Manali for an overnight journey.

 

Difficulty of the trek:

 

Although Pin parvati trek is a very interesting trek but if compare it in a scale, the it can be regarded as a rather difficult trek. People may face the following challenges while trekking in the Pin Parvati Pass-

 

  1.  Crevasses- These are the cracks on the surface of the glaciers which often get covered up due to snowfall. So trekkers rope up themselves when walking on such glaciers.

 

  1. High altitude health hazards- the maximum altitude of Pin Parvati trek is approximately 5300m which is higher than the peaks of some mountains.So there is a high chance of being sick due to these altitudes.

 

  1. Remote terrain areas- During your trek you will not find any villages or people. until Kaza so it is very important for you to understand that you are basically on your own during the trek. In case you fall ill or get injured, then  you will only be the one to hwlp yourselves.

Itenary of the trek:

 

Barshaini to kheerganga (DAY 1):You  will be starting your trek from Barshaini where you will be given some brief instructions. Then you will start your trek to Kheerganga (at 9,100ft). After reaching there you can go to the hot springs to refresh yourselves and then take some rest at the camp.

 

Kheerganga to Tunda Bhuj (DAY 2): On the second day, you will ascend gradually where you will experience the mesmerising beauty of the terrain. You will pass through meadows, streams and a temporary bridge during your trek.

 

Tunda bhuj to Thakur Kuan (DAY 3): on the third day, you will be passing through the mystic valleys, heart throbbing rivers and amazing flora of the trek. After passing through the Pandu bridge , you will reach Thakur kuan which is at a height of 11,593ft and stay in the camp for the day.

 

Thakur Kuan to Ody Thach (DAY 4):  This trek is very simple yet difficult one as the terrain would be even though you will have to pass through two difficult bridges which is a bit typical.

 

Ody Thach To Mantalai (DAY 5): Today you will ascend from Ody thach to Mantalai which is at a height of 13547ft.

 

Mantalai to Parwati Side Base Camp (DAY 6): The main ascent of the trek starts here. You will have to cross a big stream here which is known as Kala Khornalla. After crossing it, you will start descending towards the campsite.

 

Parwati Side Base Camp to Bedu Thach (DAY 7): Todays trek starts early in the morning so that you can cross the glacier before sunrise so that you can safely cross it. 

 

Bedu Thach to Tiya (DAY 8): Todays trek would be giving you one of the best and adorable views of the Spiti valley. In other words you can say that you will be watching heaven of the Earth today.

 

Tiya to Budh and to Kaza (DAY 9):  Today you will start your trek to Budh where you can explore teh buddha village and then Drive to Kaza.
