The botanical name of the purple-coloured Krishna fruit is (Passiflora Edulis Sims), while the scientific name of the yellow-coloured passion fruit is (Passiflora Edulis F. Flavicarpa Deg.). It is a cylindrical plant that bears egg-shaped fruits. However, their colour can be different, yellow or purple, according to their species. Due to the low production of this fruit and high demand in the market, many companies are cultivating it in association with farmers.

Krishna Phal, i.e. Passion Fruit belongs to the Paciflaresia family and this fruit is mostly grown in India and Brazil. According to agricultural experts, this fruit production is good in hilly areas. Moreover, farmers use various machines for its production and they must ensure various factors before using farming equipment, such as tractor price, warranty and serviceability. Apart from this, the crop does not require much water. For a good yield of this crop, the temperature should be 15 to 30 degrees. Dry sandy soil is most suitable for passion fruit cultivation, and the onset of monsoon is best for transplanting.

Passion fruit is a cylindrical plant, and it is planted at the beginning of the rainy season, in which flowers start coming out around the month of October, and it starts bearing fruits by November-December. Farmers keep getting this fruit till April, and its size is almost equal to that of an apple. If we talk about its weight, then the weight of one fruit ranges from 100 to 130 grams.

Krishna fruit takes about 1100 plants on one hectare, planted in a row. Row-to-row spacing of 12 feet and plant-to-plant spacing of 8 feet is maintained in passion fruit cultivation. If we talk about its plant, the cost of 1 plant of passion fruit in the market ranges from about Rs.80 to Rs.150. The production of this fruit is about 8 to 10 tonnes in 1 hectare field.

Passion Fruit Plant Preparation In Nursery 

If you want to cultivate Krishna Phal, i.e. Passion Fruit, then use plant saplings. Moreover, you will find these plants in the nursery. However, if, for some reason, plants are not available there, you can prepare Krishna fruit plants by preparing a nursery yourself. You can prepare passion fruit or Krishna fruit nursery in two ways. Under the first method, prepare the nursery after sowing its seeds, but it will take more time and labour in passion fruit cultivation.

Under the second method, plant the cuttings of Krishna fruit in the nursery and prepare its plants, it will take you less time, and the plants are also available quickly for growing in the field. Monsoon is the appropriate time to plant it. Moreover, you can sow passion fruit plants in your fields with a Digitrac tractor after the 15th of June, that is, till the end of the rains.
