How to Draw a Beard – Step by Step Guide

How to Draw a Beard – Step by Step Guide : We all see many beards in our life. Beards are everywhere, but pulling them off can be more complicated than expected. This can make learning how to draw a beard frustrating. Fortunately, the guides I’m about to create were much easier than I expected.

You can draw more drawing ideas like flower drawings, 3D , birds, landscape, animal drawings, and many more. With this step-by-step guide to drawing a beard, you’ll have a great beard drawing in no time.

How to draw a beard? Let’s get started.

Step 1

In this first step of my tutorial on how to draw a beard, I make a pencil sketch to use as a guide for later stages. In the reference image, all pencil lines are rendered in light grey, and pencil lines are generated in black. First, you can make a pencil sketch, which includes the outline of the head and ears of the drawing.

You can then sketch the hair on this pencil guide and detail the eyebrows and nose, as shown in the reference image. Some curves also work to outline the cheekbones towards the nose. Then you can also add some bars for closed eyes on the face. With these details, we are ready for the next step!

Step 2

Now that I have the pencil outline of the face and the first details of the front done, I can add more to the next part of the beard drawing. To start this step, you can draw some details of the mine to make it look like a reference image.

Then add a round moustache under the nose and draw a mouth under the moustache. The reference image shows you can also draw the other closed eye.

Step 3

With the top half of the face drawn, I’m ready to start drawing the beard for the next few steps. To do this, sketch the whiskers as shown in the reference image. Several sharp curves can be used on the sides of the chin, each line extending down from the ear. Next, the beard drawing has another curve under the chin. Now that we have the outline, we’ll add the details in the next few steps.

Step 4

You can start with this part of the beard drawing by adding details to the inside of the beard. This step may seem complicated, but if you follow the step-by-step instructions, you can do it. You can add some curves throughout the moustache and beard. The beard line is longer than the moustache line.

Step 5

In this step of our tutorial on drawing a beard, we add the final details and erase the pencil lines from step one. First, add a curve to your hair and pull some of it up from the bottom of your hair. Some only go halfway up the hairline so you can follow the line strictly, but change it up for the picture!

Once you have these last points, you can begin erasing your pencil lines from step one. If you erase too quickly, the pen ink may bleed! You can also add data before moving to the last step. I could draw the neck and shoulders of the person in the painting as an idea, but how do you think I would finish the image before the final stage?

Step 6

The sixth and final step of drawing the whiskers is adding colour to the image. As you can see in the reference image, I used dark brown for the man’s beard and hair. But this is just one of many ideas you can use. You can tint it with your hair colour as an added fun detail for a personal touch.

You can use more stylish colours like blue, green and red. There are no wrong answers. Let your creativity shine! Once you know what colours to use in your painting, deciding which media to finish with is fun.
